JAMMU, Mar 23: Former MLC and grandson of Maharaja Hari Singh, Vikramaditya Singh, reaffirmed the deep-rooted ancestral connection between the Dogra royal family of Jammu & Kashmir and Rajasthan while attending the 500th birth anniversary celebrations of Maharao Khangar in Naraina (Jobner), Jaipur.
Addressing a gathering of over five thousand people, he highlighted how the Dogra Maharajas, since the 16th century, trace their origins to this sacred land, making the event a moment of both commemoration and reflection on shared heritage.
The grand occasion was attended by several dignitaries, including Rawal Sangram Singh, Shravan Singh, Padma Laxman Singh, Rao Rajendra Singh Shahpura (MP, Jaipur Rural), former Union Minister Pratap Singh and Samta Ram.
Singh paid tribute to Maharao Khangar, describing him as a fearless warrior and a visionary ruler whose legacy continues to inspire generations. “His life teaches us that any challenge can be overcome with courage, leadership, and unity,” he said, emphasizing the importance of remembering such historical figures who shaped the course of time.
He also commended Satyendra Singh Khangarot for his painstaking research over 14 years in compiling the genealogy of the Dogra royal family. Singh termed the release of this genealogy as a significant milestone in reconnecting with their ancestral past and preserving historical records for future generations.
Reflecting on the contributions of the Dogra Maharajas to Sanatan Dharma, he highlighted the J&K Dharmarth Trust’s role in preserving cultural and religious heritage. Managing over 130 temples and shrines across J&K, the Trust continues to uphold ancient Hindu traditions and facilitate religious practices for devotees.
