JAMMU, Mar 7: Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) is organizing its 109th General Council meeting on March 9, 2014 in which many burning issues of the Jammu region would be taken up and discussed vigorously.
Addressing a press conference here today Sabha president, Gulchain Singh Charak (former Minister), said that a large number of members of various Dogra Sadar Sabha units across the region would participate in the meet. He pointed out that various issues pertaining to the development of Jammu, its cultural heritage, development of tourists resorts, discrimination etc would be taken up during the day long Council meeting.
Giving history, Mr Charak said the Sabha was constituted during the time of Maharajas in 1904 with Lala Hans Raj Mahajan as its founder president. The other executive members of the Sabha were S Budh Singh, Mian Jawala Singh, Vakil Hazarat Shah and Daya Krishan Gardish. It was the only organization in the State that time which was recognized by the then rulers. It worked for the brotherhood, amity and welfare of the society. Since then it is continuing its work for the Dogra cause, whether it is cultural heritage, promotion of language, historical places and over all development of the region.
He referred to the heroes in the Dogra history like Maharaja Ghulab Singh, including Gen Zorawar Singh, Brig Rajinder Singh and others and said that Gen Zorawar has even highest place than Nepolian Bonapart in the history. The Council will take up the issue like slow pace of work on Jammu projects like Mubarak Mandi heritage conservation, Peer Kho-Bahu Fort Gandola project, artificial lake over Tawi, road connectivity to Purmandal-Uttervehni besides other tourist resorts of Jammu.
The Duggar leader said that issue of discrimination in all the fields with Jammu region, unfair distribution of funds to DDK Jammu as compared to Kashir Channel, in jobs, promotions, professional colleges etc would be taken up during the Council meet and certain resolutions would also be passed. He appealed the members to participate in the proposed Council meeting in large number at Sabha Bhawan, in Jammu’s Dogra Hall area.
