JAMMU, Jan 4: Chairman of Dogra Sadar Sabha, Th Gulchain Singh Charak today informed that a delegation of DSS recently called on Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo and briefed him about various issues and demands.
Talking to media persons, here today, Charak said that the Sabha briefed the Chief Secretary about the constitution of the Mubarak Mandi Jammu Heritage Society & its working with regard to the restoration of Mubarak Mandi complex & requested him to examine the progress on its work on war footing without converting its any portion into hotel etc.
“It was also requested that the complex be opened for the public to visit the site & see the progress. We also suggested that the light & sound program should be started to showcase the creation of this historical state by the valiant Dogra rulers,” he added.
Charak further informed that the Sabha also desired to start “Duggar Channel” on the lines of “Kashir Channel” to promote Dogra Culture in DD Kendra Jammu with the specific purpose of countering the propaganda from across the border as whole of the population of PoJK is Dogri speaking.
“The DSS also stressed for protection & maintenance of Irrigation Canals with the specific request to declare the Ranbir Canal as the Heritage site on the lines of Sabarmati River front in Gujarat, relocation of Sarore Toll plaza as per the National norms, including the Dogra Sadar Sabha Bhawan in the Smart City project for its upgradation & improvement, opening the road in front of Civil Secretariat, Jammu for general public, renaming Talab at Village Badhori in Bari Brahmna as Gen Baj Singh Sarovar & High School Badhori as Gen Baj Singh Memorial High School,” said Charak.
The delegation, which met the Chief Secretary, comprised of Col Karan Singh (Retd), Vice President DSS; Maj. Gen Sunita Kapoor (Retd ) Convener DSS Mahila Wing; G A Khwaja (Retd), Additional General Secretary DSS; Gambhir Dev Singh Charak (I/C Youth Wing DSS), Jagdeep Singh, Chhankar Singh, Chhatter Singh, Ravi Singh, Sardar Singh Numberdar, Dharam Chand, Ravinder Singh Amn (Retd) Secretary JKAACL and Baldev Singh Numberdar.
