Dogra Sadar Sabha highlights Jammu issues

JAMMU, Dec 8:  Dogra Sadar Sabha today projected various Jammu issues  and criticized the local BJP leadership for its anti-Jammu stance.
A meeting of the core group of the working committee of Dogra Sadar Sabha was held here today under the chairmanship of  Gulchain Singh Charak, former minister and president of the Sabha.
Expressing dismay and anguish over the snail pace of work on Mubarak Mandi Heritage complex, the participants expressed doubts over the deliberate attempts being made to destroy the cultural heritage and glory of Dogras by certain agencies. The participants welcomed the High Court  directive  seeking time frame for completion of the project.
Members also took a serious note of the inaction on the part of Government with regard to the blockage of road leading to Civil Secretariat. The members in one voice strongly reiterated the demand of keeping the road open during winter and urged upon the State Government and leaders to honour their assurances as it is causing immense hardships to common masses.
In this meeting, it was decided that a General Council meeting of the Sabha shall be convened in January 2018 in which various activities pertaining to the Sabha will be taken up. While deliberating upon the membership drive, the president of the Sabha impressed upon all the participants to initiate vigorous efforts to broad base and popularize the activities of the Sabha by launching membership drive to enroll the new members of the Sabha
Another important decision taken up in the meeting was to convene a ladies’ conference in near future with a view to honour the meritorious girl students of the region.  In this respect  Prof Anita Charak Billoria and  Santosh Mangotra were authorized to proceed further.
It was also decided to set up a library- cum- photo gallery displaying rare manuscripts, literature and photographs of prominent personalities of this region who have excelled at national and international level. The members unanimously decided  that a delegation of Dogra Sadar Sabha will hold a meeting with  Governor at Raj Bhawan to seek his intervention to solve the burning and long pending problems of Jammu region.
