JAMMU, July 9: Dogra Sadar Sabha convened one day convention under the chairmanship of its President and former Minister Gulchain Singh Charak to deliberate upon various issues being faced by the people of Jammu region in general and by the people of Bishnah and Arnia in particular.
Besides, large number of Sabha delegates and the members of the Executive body, the convention was attended by Sarpanchs, Panchs, Namberdars, Chowkidars, Ex-servicemen, representatives of border area and other prominent citizens representing different social, religious and political organizations.
Various speakers spoke on the occasion and highlighted the problems being faced by the people of the area in particular and by the people of region in general.
Concluding the proceedings of convention Gulchain Singh Charak, President DSS highlighted various issues including providing of infrastructure facilities to Degree College Bishnah, establishment of a Degree College in Arnia border area, urgent improvement of border and other important roads which are in a dilapidated condition, enhancement of remuneration of Numberdars and Chowkidars and to empower them in their respective areas, de-silting of canals of the area in order to supply sufficient irrigation water to the tail end of the canals, stoppage of unscheduled power cuts, improvement in medical facilities in the area in general and providing sufficient doctors and medicines in SDH Bishnah in particular, reservation in recruitment in Government jobs for Ex- Servicemen as per previous practice, conduct of Panchyati Raj Elections and implementation of 73rd and 74th amendment of Constitution of India and preservation of heritage sites particularly Mubarak Mandi complex.
He assured that the Sabha would strive hard for taking these issues to their logical conclusion.
Sabha condemned the anti-national activities being carried out by the anti-social elements in the State, which are detrimental to the sovereignty and security of the country. It was also demanded that Sanik Colony be established in Kashmir region like Jammu for the Ex-servicemen of J&K.
