JAMMU, Mar 22: An entertaining performance of Dogri adaptation of Badal Sarcar’s ‘Solution X’ was presented by Unison Cultural Troupe as the fifth production of ongoing Annual Drama Festival being organized by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, here today.
Adapted and directed by Vijay Goswami, the comic play revolved around a mad scientist Chuni Lal Mahajan who along with his younger colleague Rakesh Khajuria, is obsessively pursuing research to find an anti-aging drug. The typical forgetful and absent minded scientist who is always involved in his pursuit has no time for worldly duties.
When he is at verge of discovering the right formula, his young daughter in a playful mood mixes the ingredients in drinking water dispenser kept in her father’s laboratory. When the scientist, his wife, boss, colleagues wife and his sister-in-law drink that water, they experience a surge of youthful energy and each behaves some twenty years younger to his\her respective ages. The ensuing chaos brings about confusions and suspicions results in uniquely funny situations.
The everyday language of the Dogri adaptation full of innocently sounding retorts and comments delivered with brilliant casualness and timing by the actors, struck an immediate chord with the spectators who lustily cheered and appreciated the performance.
Vijay Goswami as Dr Chuni Lal Mahajan and Rajni Bhatti as doctor’s wife Guddi gave an excellent display of acting. Sugandhi Manhas as girl child, Shama Choudhary as Meenu Khajuria, Sheel Manhas as Bittu, Pradeep Sharma as Rakesh Khajuria, Ajay Pal Singh as Dr Jamwal, Chitra Prasad Shah as Geeta, Ashish Uppal as Ramesh—all gave good performances.
The backstage team included Amarjeet Singh, sets, Indu, costumes, Rohit Sharma, music, Rohit Verma, Soham, lights and Tapeshwar Dutta, make-up. Ashish Sharma assisted in direction.
Director Tourism Saujanya Sharma, the chief guest, in his address lauded Academy’s initiative in organizing annual drama festivals which have brought many talented theatre actors, directors to lime light.
