Dogri play to be staged at national fest Bharat Rang Mahotsav

Jammu, Feb 16: Padamshree N.D. Jamwal’s acclaimed Dogri play Kunju Chanchlo will be staged as part of a 16-day festival organized by the National School of Drama under Bharat Rang Mahotsav.
Organized after a gap of two years due to the Corona pandemic, the National School of Drama’s prestigious International Theatre Festival, the 22nd Bharat Rang Mahotsav is being held in 10 cities-Delhi, Jaipur, Rajahmundry, Ranchi, Guwahati, Jammu, Srinagar, Bhopal, Nashik, and Kevadia – canvassing a total of 80 plays in 16 Indian languages.
In Jammu and Kashmir, the Bharat Rang Mahotasav will open at Jammu from Feb 20th to Feb 22, 2023, in collaboration with the University of Jammu at the Zorawar Singh Auditorium. While in Srinagar, the fest will be staged from Feb 23rd to Feb 25th in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages at the Tagore Hall.
The Bharat Rang Mahotasav at Jammu will open on Feb 20th with the Kashmiri play ‘Wath’, by Azad Dramatic Club, Srinagar, directed by Reshi Rashid. On Feb 21st, a non-verbal play ‘Silence’, written and directed by Soma Giri will be staged by Begulati Natyamandir, Kolkota. The feast at Jammu will end on Feb 22nd with the presentation of Natharam Gaur’s Hindi play ‘Satyabhan Savitri’, directed by Umesh Chandra Sharma and staged by Shri Shri Nathari Sansthan, Mathura.
The fest at Srinagar will begin on Feb 23rd with Padamshree N.D. Jamwal’s acclaimed Dogri play Kunju Chanchalo, staged by Unison Cultural Troupe, under the direction of Sandeep Verma. On Feb 24, Eklavya Theatre, Dehradun will stage Garish Karnard’s Nagmandal in Hindi under the direction of Gagan Mishra and Priyadarshani Mishra. On Feb 25, the last BRM’s last play at Srinagar will be ‘Triyatra’, the Hindi adaptation of O. Henry’s, directed by Gagan Mishra and Priyadarshani Mishra and staged by ‘Curio’, Performing Art Society, Jaipur.
