The protesters,  including female scholars, led by Council’s chairman Parduman Singh, assembled outside Jammu University gate and disrupted the traffic by blocking the road for half an hour.
They also burnt an  effigy of the Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Education  for making a direct attack on Dogra identity and culture by imposing Kashmiri language in Jammu colleges.
The angry scholars raised slogans against the Deputy Chief Minister, BJP Ministers, MPs and Education Minister.  They asked the BJP leadership to explain their role behind this illogical move. “On the one side, they (BJP) claim to be champion of Jammu cause and on the other hand they have  resorted to grave injustice with Jammu region. The people of Jammu will not spare the BJP leadership and the incumbent ministers from this region for their complete surrender to the Kashmir,” Parduman Singh said, adding that the Government has made an attempt to assault the Dogra identity which will not be tolerated at any cost.
He said the Government, especially BJP, owes an explanation as on what parameters were adopted for creating such a big number of posts of Assistant Professors in Kashmiri language in Jammu colleges.
A PhD scholar of Jammu University, Kailash Mohan, also came down heavily on the State Government for its ill-advised move which was taken under a well-planned conspiracy against Dogri-speaking region.
The protesters demanded immediate revocation of “arbitrary order” under which 49 vacancies of Assistant Professors were converted for Kashmiri Language and Literature.
Those who took part in the protest included Ritu Raj, Shiv Kumar, Menisha, Pritima Sangra, Meetu Kumari, Sunil Mehra, Anu Sharma, Shallu, Sonika Jasrotia, Kamlesh, Anil Verma, Asha, Sheetal, Sukhdev, Pawan, Ronika, Mohinder, Rimjim and others.
