JAMMU, July 28: Dogri Research Forum has threatened a vigorous agitation in Jammu region if the Government does not withdraw its controversial order of converting 49 posts of Assistant Professors in Kashmiri language for introducing Kashmiri as subject in Jammu colleges.
Addressing a press conference at Jammu University, the Forum chairman, Parduman Singh accused the State Government of giving step motherly treatment to Dogri language and playing with the sentiments of Dogras of Jammu region. “Dogri is the mother tongue of Jammu division but the Government is trying to forcibly impose Kashmiri language on the people of this region” he said and dubbed the Government move as discriminatory to appease the Kashmiri rulers.
Singh sought to know the rationale behind converting 49 posts of Kashmiri language for Jammu Division whereas no person in Jammu region study Kashmiri. “Why the State Government  has sanctioned such a huge number of posts for Jammu region where  people speak Dogri and study  Dogri language?” he asked while pointing out that not even a single post in the  Dogri subject was created despite that fact that there has been acute shortage of  Dogri teachers in the colleges.
Accusing the State Government playing with the sentiments of Jammu people, Parduman Singh warned that Jammu youth would not tolerate this discrimination with Dogri and Dogra and a vigorous agitation would be launched against the Government move.
Others, who were present in the press conference,  included  Kailash Mohan,  Sheetal Devi,   Sonika Jasrotia, Anil, Shallu, Pooja, Vijay Annu,  Manju, Kamlesh, Jyoti and Shiv Kumar Khajuria.
