Dogri Sanstha invites books for Prof Ram Nath Shastri Memorial Award

JAMMU, Mar 23: Dogri Sanstha Jammu has invited books for Prof. Ram Nath Shastri Memorial Award 2024.
Prof. Lalit Magotra, president Dogri Sanstha Jammu while briefing about the prestigious award said this award is given to a Dogri writer for his first book in any genre written by the writer during the last five years. This year it will cover the time span from January 2019 to December 2023. The writers may submit three copies of their publications at Dogri Sanstha, Karan Nagar Jammu by 5 pm on March 31, 2024.
He further added that a jury is constituted to evaluate the submitted books. However the book should not have been awarded by Sahitya Akademi, State Academy or any Government or Non-Government Organization to qualify for the award.
As per Rajeshwar Singh ‘Raju’, general secretary Dogri Sanstha Jammu, in order to encourage new writers, the family of Prof. Ram Nath Shatsri had started this initiative in 2014 in collaboration with Dogri Sanstha Jammu.
This annual award carries a cash prize of Rs. 21,000, a memento and a shawl and is bestowed upon the awardee on April 15, which happens to be the birthday of father of Dogri Literature, Prof. Ram Nath Shastri. He said that all Dogri writers who have got their first book published during the qualifying period should submit their books well in time so that a deserving book should be awarded.
