JAMMU, Apr 8: An entrancing programme of music and poignant poetry titled ‘Chamatkar’ was presented by Dogri Sanstha at Abhinav Theatre here today where melody enthusiasts were charmed by the depth of free verse and flight of soulful music.
In the third programme of its sort, based on the heart-rendering blank verses in Dogri by distinguished litterateur, Ved Rahi, the magical compositions prepared by the noted music director Brij Mohan left the audience mesmerized. The programme with most effectual format incorporating recital of couplets of blank verses by noted voices of theatre, television and Radio and live singing of same couplets by young and talented Naveen Sharma was a splendid experience for most of the audience.
Deepak Kumar, Kusum Tikku, Rajeshwar Singh Raju, Pankaj Verma, Promila Manhas and Dr Lalit Magotra gave voices to the live recitation of choicest poems of Ved Rahi which included ‘Chup Rehiye Prarthna Kar’ ‘Kuthun Kuthun Kiyan Kiyan Aunde Ne Dukh’ ‘Beete De Such Te Beete De Dukh’ and ‘Chann Truteya Te Ohde Tote Nnhere De Dariya Ich Rudi Ge.’ The sole singer Naveen Sharma was accompanied by Rakesh Anand on flute, Sanjay Pashi on Guitar, Sunil Sharma on Synth and Karan Malhotra on Tabla.
Chief guest of the musical evening, Advocate General, J&K, DC Raina said that this was a unique experience to listen to the heartrending poetry of Ved Rahi in the golden voice of Naveen Sharma.
Prof Lalit Magotra, in his presidential address, said that Dogri Sanstha has initiated the unique process of popularizing free verse poetry through its series of programmes under the title ‘Chamatkar’.
Ved Rahi, who recited some of his poems in the programme, eulogized the efforts of Sanstha to enrich the traditions of language, literature and culture.
President of Dogri Sanstha Chhatrapal presented welcome address while Anjali Sharma, Director Doordarshan Kendra Jammu, was special guest on the occasion.
On the occasion, Ved Rahi, Brij Mohan, Naveen Kumar and Sonali Dogra were honoured by Dogri Sanstha.
