JAMMU, Dec 9: Up-keeping its tradition to encourage new writers, Dogri Sanstha released the first poetic collection ‘Koole-Bhaav’ of a young and upcoming poet, Brahm Dutt Magotra, at a simple but impressive function here at the KL Saigal Hall.
Published by Highbrow Publishers, the released book includes 101 Dogri ghazals, mostly in small meter. In his welcome address, Chhatrapal, president of Dogri Sanstha congratulated the young poet and said that Sanstha has been promoting new writers and poets by providing them its platform. Every new book is an addition to the culture as it reflects the human sentiments and enriches the positive values, he said.
A brief critical review on the book was also presented by a young critic, Ritu Kumar, who also ventured for the first time on the platform of Dogri Sanstha. He discussed the poetic merits, content and style of ghazals of the released book.
In his presidential address, Dr Lalit Magotra, noted writer, intellectual and convener, Sahitya Akademi’s Advisory Board for Dogri, said Ghazal is a favourite genere of Dogri poets and it is a matter of great contentment that young poets are making valuable contribution to this literary tradition.
“Ghazals of this book divulge the genius of poet who had great love for his mother tongue from early age. The poet is gifted with a rich vocabulary of Dogri and is talented to communicate complex and subtle ideas”, he added.
Additional Secretary of Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Arvinder Aman and Prof Veena Gupta, Former Head for PG Department of Dogri, JU, were also present.
Brahm Dutt recited some of his poems and Ghazals on this occasion. The prgramme was conducted by Dr Rattan Basotra and the vote of thanks was presented by Gianeshwar, vice president of Dogri Sanstha.
Dr Baljit Raina, Dr Chanchal Bhaseen, Dr Sushama Kumari, Pyasa Anjum and a large number of intellectuals, writers and students were present on the occasion.
