JAMMU, Mar 17: Dogri Sanstha Jammu released young Dogri poet Pawan Verma’s collection of poems entitled ‘ Jo Katteya So Maahlein’ in a simple but an impressive function, here today.
On this occasion, Padmashri Balwant Thakur was chief guest and Prof Veena Gupta, Sahitya Akademi awardee and Vice President Dogri Sanstha Jammu was special guest whereas the function was presided over by Prof Lalit Magotra, President Dogri Sanstha Jammu.
While speaking on the occasion, Balwant Thakur recalled Pawan Verma’s association with Natrang and extended his best wishes for his new avtar as a poet. He said that even as a theatre activist he is full of energy, always ready to learn the things that might have helped in his journey as a poet also.
Prof Veena Gupta in her address said that Pawan has become an integral part of Dogri Sanstha because of his sheer dedication and with this collection of poetry he has stepped in the gallery of litterateurs also.
While presiding over the function, Prof Lalit Magotra said that with this collection Pawan has proved that he has something special as a poet to offer to Dogri literature. Some of the words used in his creative writing are amazing and authenticates the viewpoint that he is really a devoted one, hard worker, studies a lot and works on the minutest details.
Shagufta Choudhary presented a detailed paper on the book which is dedicated to the author’s father, late Ram Mohan Verma.
On this occasion, poet Pawan Verma also shared his views on his journey as a poet and recited a few poems from the book. The program was conducted by Dogri poet Susheel Begana.
Rajeshwar Singh ‘Raju’, General Secretary Dogri Sanstha Jammu, presented vote of thanks. The function was attended in good number by littérateurs, family members of Pawan Verma and literature lovers.
