Jammu, Sept 6 :A collection of Dogri short stories ‘Phull Te Kande’ by Girdhari Lal ‘Rahi’ was released at at the K.L Saigal Hall here today.
Anjali Sharma, Director, Doordarshan Kendra Jammu, Prof. Lalit Magotra, noted writer, intellectual and convener, Sahitya Akademi’s Advisory Board for Dogri, Chhatrapal noted short story writer and President, Dogri Sanstha, prominent poet Dr Nirmal Vinod and noted fiction writer and film director Dr. Baljit S. Raina released the first ever book of ‘Rahi’ in presence of august gathering of intellectuals, writers, poets of different languages and T.V.artists.
Published by Hybro Publications, the released book incorporates 21 short stories written by the author during last two decades on a wide-ranging subjects .
In his welcome address, Chhatrapal said that the Dogri writers have enriched the Indian literature by contributing inimitable pieces of fiction bringing laurels to our land. The simple and narrative style of ‘Rahi’s stories touches the sensibility of readers and sensitize them about positive values of life, he added.
Dr. Chanchal Bhasin, noted critic and Literary Secretary of Dogri Sanstha, presented an introductory paper on ‘Phull Te Kande’. She said that all the stories of book speak about the ordinary man who is struggling against the oppressive forces to restore justice, freedom, social security for himself and make life worth living. The subjects of these stories relate to our day to day social and family life of common man who finds unfit in the present social order, she said.
Anjali Sharma observed that Every human being loves stories as they augment the imagination and add to the knowledge. The stories of ‘Rahi’ are deep rooted in the culture of Duggar and portray a variety of day to day problems in perceptive style thus touching the head and heart of the readers., she added.
In his presidential address, Dr Lalit Magotra said that a number of Dogri short story have been translated and published in various Indian languages including Hindi and English. “Every new book is considered a forward step towards the enrichment of culture of the land. Moreover, short story books deserve special applaud as they explicably represent the intricacies of man ,society and life itself”, he said.
Mr. ‘Rahi’ presented a story ‘Hirakhae De Attharu’ from his book which was lauded by the audience. The literary function, conducted ably by well known broadcaster and writer and vice president Dogri Sanstha, Narinder Bhasin, was attended by leading writers, poets and members of the civil society.
