JAMMU, Nov 24: Dogri Sanstha Jammu released Santosh Sangra’s Dogri collection of short stories entitled ‘ Main Hole’ in a simple but an impressive function organized at Writers’ Club, K L Sehgal Hall, Jammu.
On this occasion, Dr Om Goswami, an eminent Dogri and Hindi litterateur and Sahitya Akademi Awardee was the chief guest. Prof Lalit Magotra, President Dogri Sanstha, presided over the function whereas Dr Arvinder Singh ‘Amn’, Ex- Additional Secretary Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages was the special guest.
Dr Om Goswami, while speaking on the occasion, said that Santosh Sangra is not only a celebrated actress but an accomplished writer also. Her stories are women oriented and explore their hardships during different phases of life, he added.
Prof Lalit Magotra, while extending his warm wishes to the writer for her new book, said that Santosh Sangra’s stories are in fact a detailed description of the sufferings of females in this man dominated society. However, he added, her leading character in the story never succumbs to the pressure but rises on the occasion to fight against all odds thus becoming a source of inspiration.
Dr Arvinder Singh ‘Amn’ was of the opinion that the stories of ‘Main Hole’ are interesting and thought provoking and give an ample proof of the potential of writer.
On this occasion, Santosh Sangra gave a detailed account of her journey as a short story writer and the process involved in writing ‘Main Hole’. She also read a story from the book.
Prof Veena Gupta presented a detailed paper on the book covering all aspects of story writing. Dr Chanchal Bhasin conducted the proceedings while Inderjeet Kesar presented vote of thanks.
