Dogri Sanstha dedicates Kunwar Viyogi Hall to public

JAMMU, Sept 15: Union Minister of State in PMO with independent charge of North Eastern States, Dr Jitendra Singh today said that during two decades Dogri suffered neglect because of misplaced priorities.
Addressing a function at Dogri Sanstha here, today jointly organised by Dogri Sanstha Jammu and Kunwar Viyogi Memorial Trust in connection with dedication of newly constructed Kunwar Viyogi Memorial Auditorium to public, Dr Jitendra Singh said that now the situation has changed and Dogri will get its due place in the new arrangement.
Maintaining that there are three important factors for promotion of any language he said one is linguistic pride which means that one should feel proud of his language. He regretted that Dogri has not been yet introduced in 10+2 schools.

Warning against politicising of Bhasha (language), he said whenever any language detracts from its basic issues and was politicised it faced death.
He said when three Dogras sitting together can’t talk in Dogri how the language will survive. In comparison to that if three Tamils are together though they are speaking fluent English, they will talk in Tamil.
Dr Jitendra Singh said another thing for preservation of language is rich literature. He said Guru Dev Rabindra Nath Tagore wrote Gitanjali and introduced Bangla to the world. “Our creativity suffered some shortcomings which is the reason that Dogri could not flourish to the extent it should have” he added.
The third thing needed for the promotion of the language are Linguistic stake which means you have to link the Bhasha (language ) to earning.
Dr Jitendra Singh asked the Dogri intellectuals who had gathered on the occasion that this is the opportune time to start movement for the progress of Dogri language. “I took oath as a Minister in Dogri and the Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh asked one of his ministerial colleagues which language is this?. Prime Minister, Narendra Modi who was also sitting along them said it is Dogri language, he added.
Dr Jitendra Singh also highlighted his close relation with Kunwar Viyogi and recalled his services in promotion of Dogri language and literature. He said along Kunwar Viyogi they had formed a Free Lancers Association.
He said it was in sixties that Narsingh Dev Jamwal and Madan Mohan gave identity to Dogri language in the country.
Addressing the function president, Dogri Santha, Prof. Lalit Magotra said that Dogri Sansta is not only a literary organisation but a movement. Today there are thousands of books in the Dogri language from Primary standard to University level and the beginning of the same was made by Dogri Sanstha. He said the land for auditorium was given by former Sadr-e-Riyasat, Dr Karan Singh but the Sanstha has a dream to have auditorium, guest rooms and other facilities where conferences can be held.
He said Ex MP, Madan Lal Sharma, MLC, Ashok Khajuria, Ex MLC, Ravinder Sharma, and Vijay Bakaya and former MLA Devender Rana provided funds from their CDF to the Sanstha.
He however said that the auditorium construction would have not been possible without the support and cooperation of Kunwar Viyogi Memorial Trust. He said the Sanstha wants to have full-fledged library and Museum.
Unfolding the plan of his organisation, he said this building should be epicentre for promotion of literature.
Punam Jamwal of Kunwar Viyogi Trust said she saw reflection of Kunwar Viyogi in Lalit Mangotra. “She said I am dedicating this auditorium to the people on the name of my father”.
She said she wanted to be bridge between youth and work for promotion and revival of Dogri. She demanded that Dogri should be integral part of education.
On the occasion Roshan Bral a youth was honoured for his contribution in promotion of Dogri while veteran Dogri writer, Late Chhaterpal was also honoured posthumously and the award was given to his wife.
The programme was conducted by Prof Shashi Pathania vice president Dogri Sanstha while Prof Gyaneshwar another vice president of the Sanstha was also present on the occasion. Prof Veena Gupta read the citation of Chhaterpal on the occasion.
The function was attended by a galaxy of writers, poets and intellectuals.
