JAMMU, Sept 14: Sahitya Akademi awardee and a renowned Dogri writer Krishan Sharma has been conferred with the Sauhard -Samman for Dogri for the year 2014 by Uttar Pradesh Government Hindi Sansthan, at a function in the State’s Capital City of Lucknow today.
He was presented the award by Chief Minister, Akhilesh Yadav, at an impressive function on the occasion of Hindi Divas.
The Sauhard -Samman is conferred to those writers who contribute in the field of translation into Hindi language from their regional languages simultaneously. Mr Sharma has translated hundreds of Dogri articles into Hindi which have been published in the established magazines and dailies of national repute from all over India. He has five original books of short stories and one translated book to his credit. Besides, Sahitya Akademi Award in 2005 Mr Sharma has been honoured Sahitya Akademi’s Bal Sahitya Puraskar in 2013. The present award comprised of a Shawal, a statue of deity Ganga, a citation and a cheque of Rs two lakh.
