JAMMU, Apr 6: A domestic helper died today after he allegedly consumed some poisonous substance at his workplace in Gandhi Nagar area of city outskirts.
According to a police official, Sukhdev Singh son of Roop Singh, resident of Surinsar, was found unconscious today at about 8 PM at a house in Gandhi Nagar area, where he was working as a domestic help for past some time.
The family members, when noticed, informed the police, which reached the spot and shifted the man to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where he was declared as brought dead by the doctors. The body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary room of the hospital while his family members were informed.
“Prima facie, it appears that the man has consumed some poisonous substance,” the police official said, adding that inquest proceeding in this connection was initiated at police station Gandhi Nagar.
