JAMMU, Aug 7: For the first time in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the administration of Jammu district has launched domicile at door-step service initially in three tehsils.
The vans for providing domicile at door step service were flagged off from the Deputy Commissioner’s office by Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Vijay Sharma in the presence of other officers on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Jammu Sushma Chauhan.
Initially, the innovative step has been taken in Jammu West, Nagrota and Dansal tehsils and in near future this service will be extended to other tehsils of Jammu district.
“The step is aimed at providing respite to the people from the hassle of visiting the offices of the Tehsildars to apply for the domicile certificate”, ACR said, adding “the administration has even prepared the schedule for the operation of these vans and prior information in this regard will be given to the people of the concerned area so that they get ready to obtain domicile certificate at their door-step”.
In response to a question, he said that people are only required to provide the copies of State Subject Certificate, Aadhar card, ration card and photographs and they will get the domicile certificate immediately from the team travelling in the vans headed by the concerned Tehsildar.
