Don’t be scared of terror-tactics of BJP: Harsh to civil society

JAMMU, Jan 31: Accusing the political leadership of Jammu of demonstrating political cowardice in the face of “rule of whim” being run in the state by “an authoritarian regime”, said Harsh Dev Singh Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir National Panther Party (JKNPP) and former minister and appealed the civil society to rise to the occasion so as to fill the gaps in effective representation of people of the ‘Dogra’ land facing crisis of identity and culture.
The recent developments in the state have created uncertainty and fear in the minds of the people who are made to compromise with their rights as free citizens under the garbs of national interests, said Singh. Can anyone be allowed to destroy the freedoms that our ancestors/dogra warriors fought to defend? questioned Singh.
“Not only were restrictions imposed upon unfettered exercise of constitutional guarantees but Jammu region continued to be disregarded and neglected and taken for granted even after Article 370 abrogation, Kashmir continued to receive priority attention at the cost of the former”, he lamented.
He said that with internet services having been snapped for the last around six months in a peaceful Jammu, the political leadership seemed to have abdicated its responsibility of taking up the issue with the helmsmen causing huge inconvenience and losses being caused to various sections of society including students, traders, transporters, employees and common man.
The West Pakistani refugees and Valmiki Samaj were still deprived of the opportunity of applying for state Government jobs.
Yash Paul Kundal called for early payment of compensation to the farmers whose crops were damaged in the recent rains and hailstorm. He sought early apprehending of the absconding businessman who had looted the farmers of their produce and had not been arrested despite massive public protests.
