Don’t force package employees to join services in Valley: PK

JAMMU, Nov 16: Panun Kashmir (PK) has expressed its disappointment at the manner the PM package employees are being treated. The hapless employees have been sitting on dharna in the premises of the Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner’s Office for the last many months but the Government seems to be oblivious to their demands. On the contrary these employees are being forced to join duties in Kashmir in the presently uncertain conditions.
Panun Kashmir president, Ravinder Raina in a statement said that the safety and security of these employees is paramount and under no circumstances they should be put in the harm. In the light of the recent targeted killings of the package employees and other minority members, these employees would be sitting ducks for the Pak sponsored terrorists, he added.
He said the package employees have been discharging their duties for the last more than a decade now, yet the promised dwelling facilities could not be built and majority of the employees were forced to live in private dwellings further making their day to day lives difficult. Moreover, the recent spate of targeted killings has created a fear psychosis in their minds for their personal safety and that of their families, he added.
The Government must realise that these employees are the victims of genocide but still they opted to offer their services in the Valley in the national interest but this should not be at the cost of their lives. The Government should neutralise these forces first and then only any decision in this regard may be taken. There is a need to win their confidence by relocating them to safer places until conducive conditions are restored in Kashmir and their salaries must be paid on time.
