SAMBA, Dec 17: Hitting out at BJP for allegedly misleading the people in Jammu and Kashmir during ongoing DDC elections, former minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla  today expressed surprise over the ignorance of BJP and its leadership about the ground realities in Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing election rally in favour of DDC candidate Samba-B Parshotam Lal at Banglad today Bhalla said BJP has double standards as they attempt to mislead people by narrating false tales. He said Congress is not doing politics on religion, region or development like BJP. “We do not create wedge between Hindus and Muslims, Kashmiris-Jammuites and do not do politics on the issues of development and public good,” he said.
Exuding confidence that Congress will leave an indelible mark in the District Development Council elections, former Minister said that a stable political structure is imperative for meeting challenges and steering J&K to peace, progress and development. He said Congress has a credible record of public service and ushering J&K to unprecedented development during different spells of governance in the past over four decades. The people are sagacious enough to choose their representatives to the grassroot level democratic institutions.
Bhalla  said the people had pinned high hopes on BJP but their betrayal has left them devastated. He said personal agenda of the BJP team in the Government prevailed over public interest, as a result of which Jammu region suffered adversely on the front of development, implementation of welfare schemes and jobs to youth. He said the people of Jammu are determined to teach a lesson to those who betrayed their 2014 mandate. He slammed the BJP for non-fulfilment of promises over the years.
Hitting out at the Govt over the rise in cost of domestic cooking gas, Bhalla accused it of being insensitive to the woes of the common people and demanded an immediate rollback of the hike in price of LPG cylinders. He slammed the Government over the issue, saying the “profit-seeking BJP government was assaulting the budget of the common man”.
Bhalla further appealed to the people to vote in favour of Congress candidates for better development and peace on borders.
