‘Don’t hold Gurudwara Parbandak Board elections separately for Jammu’

JAMMU, May 22: J&K Shiromani Akali Dal under an amalgam of various Sikh organizations of J&K has demanded that elections of J&K Sikh Gurudwara Parbandak Board should not be held separately for Jammu.
In a joint press conference organized of various Sikh organizations, S. Darbinder Singh, president Shiromani Akali Dal J&K said that J&K Sikh Gurudwara Board in pursuance of Rule 36 (1) and Rule 47(1) of J&K Sikh Gurudwara and Religious Endowment Act,1975 clearly mentions that J&K Sikh Gurudwara Prabandhak Board have 15 members—8 from Jammu and 7 from Kashmir which together form J&K Gurudwara Prabandhak Board.
Darbinder Singh demanded that the authorities should not hold these elections separately for Jammu province because these elections are for J&K Sikh Gurudwara Prabandhak Board and not only Jammu.
S. Mohinder Singh, chief organiser Bhai Kanahiya Nishkam Sewa Society J&K; S. Rajinder Singh, general secretary Shiromani Akali Dal J&K; S. Kulwant Khajuria, general secretary Shiromani Akali Dal (J&K) and others were also present in the press conference.
