JAMMU, Dec 22: Former Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Bali Bhagat has urged the Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha led J&K Union Territory administration not to make the Jammu based employees scapegoats by not releasing their salaries and pressurizing them to move to the Valley amid peak threat to their lives.
In a statement issued to media here today, Bali Bhagat while warning that even a single killing of Jammu based employees will not be tolerated at the hands of terrorists, he appealed to the Lt Governor to treat these employees as his own children and first and foremost ensure their fool proof security and safe accommodation before asking them to report to their duties in Kashmir.
Asserting that these employees are not enjoying holidays at Jammu but are protesting for their Constitutional right to life crying for their protection as well as that of their families, he urged the UT administration to immediately release their salaries as their families are at the verge of starvation.
The former Minister also demanded the announcement of the transfer policy of these employees at the earliest. He said that it needs to be acknowledged that if there is life, there is the world and the Government has no authority to endanger the lives of these employees.
The senior BJP leader accused the Government of resorting to blatant violation of the humanitarian law by acting arbitrarily on the most genuine issue of these Jammu based employees whose families have reached the brink of starvation with their salaries withheld for so long.
Bali Bhagat asserted that the Government is duty bound to provide safe and secure atmosphere to every individual of the society across the nation. Since the conditions in Kashmir Valley are yet far from safe and secure for the minority community including the Jammu based and the migrant employees appointed under PM package, the Government has no right to compel such employees to join their offices in the Valley where they have grave risk to their lives.
He said that if the Government fails to address their genuine issues then the administration shall be wholly and solely responsible for the consequences thereof.
