SRINAGAR, Sept 23 : In a bid to pacify the tensions, chairman Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Shah Geelani today appealed people not to perform any such act that could hurt the religious sentiments of other communities of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Allah has declared meat of bovine animals’ halal for us. So nobody can declare it as a forbidden entity for us nor can stop us from consuming it. At a time when on the eve of Eid- ul- Azha, we uphold the sunnah of Prophet Ibrahim (A.S), we must not indulge in any such activity that could hurt the religious sentiments of other religious communities,” Geelani said in a statement.
In his appeal to the people of the State, the senior separatist leader said during the eve of Eid- ul- Azha, the Muslims must uphold the religious sanctity and not undermine the aspirations and sentiments of other religious communities.
Geealni said some fanatic elements are hell bent to fan the communal fires so that a stir is caused within Jammu and Kashmir.  “We appeal hindu brothers not to fall prey to the agenda of RSS and at all costs should not allow anyone to cause any religious divide,” Geelani said, adding that Muslims do not sacrifice bovine animals in vengeance to any community.
