AKHNOOR, Oct 26: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) today asked the State Government to take emergent steps to provide some relief to the border residents who have been facing hardship due to shelling.
Winding up his two day tour of border areas of Akhnoor Assembly segment, PDP candidate for Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha seat Yash Pal Sharma called for starting relief and rehabilitation operations on war footing in border areas.
Sharma along with senior leaders of PPD addressed series of meetings in Gurha Brahamana, Devi Pur, Naadh, Muthi Marh, Chak Karpal Pur, Top Khalsa, Ambarana,  and others areas. He said that displacement of people from border areas has been going unabated but no emergent step has been taken so far from Government side. He said that instead of adopting casual approach state Government should take steps on war footings to protect lives and properties of border inhabitants.
He said Omar Abdullah Government was proved as liability because this regime has failed to protect lives and properties of people.
He observed that prevailing chaos and uncertainty in the State were result of the failure of the present regime to connect itself with the common masses. “Instead of connecting with the common masses, the State Government has been further complicating the situation through its mis-deeds and wrong doings”, he said.
Ved Mahajan, Hussain Ali Bafa, Deepinder Kour, Devinder Sharma and others also spoke on the occasion.
