JAMMU, July 15: Department of Posts (DoP) released special postal cover on ‘Raksha Bandhan’ in a function organised at Head Post Office, Gandhinagar here today.
Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Jammu Division organised the function with a distinctive cancellation on the theme today. The occasion was graced with the presence of HK Verma, Chief General Manager, BSNL, J&K Circle and Nirmaljit Singh, Postmaster General, J&K Circle.
Speaking on the occasion Verma lauded the efforts made by the Department of Posts to bring the nation together. He stressed that the Philatelists are a link to our past.
The Postmaster General said that ‘Raksha Badhan’ brings the families together and Department of Posts has a historical contribution to it. He said that Philately is ‘The King of Hobbies and the Hobby of the Kings’.
All the Philatelists who participated in the World Environment Day function on June 5, 2017 at Jammu University were presented with certificate and Souvenir. Special honour was given to RN Kohli, renowned Philatelist of Jammu. He also spoke briefly on the occasion recounting some of his experiences in Philately.
GR Parrey, Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Jammu Division thanked all the participants for gracing the occasion. The special cover costs Rs 10 without stamps. Covers will be available for sale in all the Post Offices in Jammu.
