JAMMU, Dec 14: On the occasion of “Mouni-Amavasya” the Daughters of Panun Kashmir (DoPK) organized a humanitarian aid programme here, today. Refreshment, juice and fruits were distributed among the children of the labour class, students for Vidyalaya Specially abled persons and also to the deserving and needy families in various localities of the city.
Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, senior BJP and Kashmiri Pandit leader, incharge, Department of Political Affairs and Feedback, J&K-BJP was the chief guest on the occasion while Arun Chaudhary, president, J&K Arya Pratinidhi Sabha was the guest of honour. The programme was coordinated by Vimla Chrungoo, secretary, DoPK and sponsored by ‘India Food Banking Network’ and Kusum Kaul, civil society activist based at Ahmedabad.
In his address, Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo highlighted the role of the humanitarian aid programmes in the Indian civilization and ethos. He said that the temples, places of worship and the Shastras of the Indian society have been guiding our lives from the times immemorial. Unfortunately, in J&K the temples were made targets of communal frenzy and terrorism over the last four decades. The recent and fresh attempts of usurpation of land and buildings of temples and shrines in the Valley are very disturbing development which needs immediate attention. It is high time that the Government paves way for the establishment of a Board for all Hindu Temples and Shrines in the Valley as per the aspirations of the Hindu society of Kashmir in this regard.
Arun Chaudhary in his speech said that the ‘Daughters of Panun Kashmir’ have been in the forefront in the field of humanitarian aid programmes always. Its services during the COVID-19 situation during the year 2020 have been both inspiring and courageous. Arya Pratinidhi Sabha will be always supporting it’s good work for the welfare of the society. He also expressed his regret over the gutting of the Arya Samaj Mandir Yagya-Shala in Rainawari, Srinagar recently. The property in question was usurped by certain unscrupulous elements over some time and has been destroyed in the mysterious fire now. He asked the DGP of the J&K to file a case in this regard and restore the Mandir property to the Arya Samaj Committee of Rainawari, Srinagar.
Those who participated in the programme included GR Dafara, Vijay Saproo, Rajaji Kachroo, Dolly Chrungoo and Anita Kachroo.
