KARGIL, June 10: Minister for Cooperatives and Ladakh Affairs, Chering Dorjay, today stressed on bringing more vibrancy in the functioning of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Councils (LAHDC) of Kargil and Leh and called for putting in strenuous efforts for development and empowerment of the both districts.
The Minister stated this while chairing a meeting with the Chief Executive Councilor LAHDC Kargil, Kacho Ahmed Ali Khan and the Executive Councilors wherein he stressed upon the need of initiating positive efforts by the LAHDCs of both the districts for resolution of issues of empowering of Hill Council Leh and Kargil.
Deputy Commissioner Kargil Haji Gulzar Hussain besides other concerned officers were also present in the meeting.
Highlighting the need to bring the necessary amendments in the LAHDCs Act, Dorjay called for concerted and persistent efforts in this regard.
The CEC Kargil and Executive Councilors briefed the Minister about various issues of public concern and need for their immediate redressal. The CEC also highlighted the issues of poor BSNL services in the district.
The Minister assured the meeting that each and every issue will be taken up and every genuine demand put forth will be fulfilled in a phased manner for the betterment of the people of the region.
Meanwhile, Dorjay while underlining the need to strengthen cooperative sector in the region directed the concerned officers to formulate DPRs under National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) for better business opportunities in Apricot and Dairy products.
Later, he attended a programme by National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) Kargil.
