Dorjey orders immediate restoration of drinking water, irrigation facilities

LEH, Aug 11: Minister for Cooperatives, Chering Dorjey today visited flood-affected Diskit and Tsati villages in the Nubra sub-division. He was accompanied by I/C Tehsildar, Executive Engineer R&B and officials of I&FC, PHE, and other concerned departments.
At Diskit, 6 houses were fully washed away and 35 houses were partially damaged due to the recent heavy rainfall and cloudburst in the area.
The Minister said DPR for Diskit-Tinggang, already stands submitted to the State Government. He said the same will be taken up with the Central Government for necessary funding.
The Minister directed the officials of Irrigation and Flood Control Department to restore irrigation khuls, PHE Department for restoration of drinking water alternatives, Revenue Department to make assessment of the damages caused during the floods. The Minster assured to provide an ambulance at PHC Panamic.
At Tsati village, the Minister directed I&FC Department for restoration of irrigational khuls and Executive Engineer R&B for restoration of roads.
Minister also directed concerned Tehsildar to arrange tents and free ration for the affected families. He further directed him to submit a detailed report of the assessment of the damages caused to the villages to DC Leh within a period of two days. The Minister also requested the villagers to coordinate with the Government officials in carrying out the work of restoration.
The Minister also visited Ayee village where he gave directions for early restoration of damaged irrigation khuls.
