POONCH, Nov 24: Dozens of land mines exploded today along Line of Control (LoC) in Balakote sector, as fire from other side spread in about one and a half kilometer of the area, close to LoC.
Official sources said that fire started from that side of the LoC and soon spread on this side of the fence. It has covered about one a half kilometer of the area.
Sources said that as soon as the fire spread this side of LoC, they are listening deafening sounds of explosions of land mines, which has created panic in the forward villages.
“The Army authorities have sounded alert and cautioned the villagers living near the LoC”, they said, adding, Army authorities on this side were fighting with the fire.
Sources said that on several earlier occasions also, such incidents have been reported in this particular area. “This is the strategy of the Pakistani troops to facilitate infiltration of the armed militants into this side of the LoC. Taking cover of the fire and smoke, the Pak troops push infiltrators into this side. Therefore, the troops have intensified vigil all along the LoC in this sector”, they added.
