Dozens of roads in north Kashmir closed due heavy snowfall

SRINAGAR : Dozens of roads, connecting far-flung and remote villages, including those near the Line of Control (LoC), were closed today due to moderate to heavy snowfall.
Meanwhile, the 85-km-long road from Bandipora to border town of Gurez remained closed due to snowfall since December last year.
Official sources said that dozens of roads, including those connecting border towns of Keran, Karanah, Machil and other villages near the LoC with their district headquarters, were closed due to fresh snowfall and slippery road conditions.
Machil received about three feet of snowfall, Sadhana top four feet, Z-Gali five feet, Gurez one feet and Razdan top about three feet and Keran about half a feet.
The district administration has already pressed into service sophisticated machines and men to put through these roads.
The authorities have also issued a snow avalanche warning in all upper reaches in the Kashmir valley following fresh snowfall.
Meanwhile, dozens of villages, including those LoC, also remained cut off with tehsil headquarters due to snowfall. (AGENCIES)
