JAMMU, July 25: Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) today declared its strong opposition to installation of smart meters.
“DPAP will oppose installation of smart meters tooth and nail as people of J&K have suffered economically in 33 years of militancy with the result our economy has crumbled and the capacity to bear costly electricity bills has withered,” said Vice Chairman of DPAP, GM Saroori. He said this during a meeting of the Party office bearers chaired by him.
The office bearers meeting was also addressed by general secretary RS Chib, provincial president Jugal Kishore Sharma, general secretary Vinod Mishra, secretary Hira Lal Abrol, Lala Devi Das (working committee member), general secretary Anita Thakur, district presidents Gourav Chopra, Ashok Bhagat, Raghbir Singh, Brijeshwar Singh Indoo, Sanjeev Dubey, Rattan Lal, Sobat Ali (general secretary, Province) and others.
The DPAP leadership directed party workers to prepare for ensuing local body and Panchayat polls. “We have to gear up for local body polls and there has to be no lackadaisical approach in this regard and let our preparations start now till we achieve success,” RS Chib said.
