JAMMU, July 31: Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) District Committee Jammu Urban here today staged a protest demonstration at Talab Tillo against JPDCL (PDD) for issuing hefty power bills, installing Smart Meters and putting in place prepaid system for electricity.
The protest was led by district DPAP president Jammu Urban, Gourav Chopra and Ashok Bhagat, district president Jammu Rural and the protesters raised slogans against JPDCL.
Addressing the protesters Gourav Chopra lambasted JPDCL for issuing hefty power bills to the people of J&K.
The protesters also demanded restoration of old age pension.
Chopra said that LG administration is harassing the people by issuing incorrect and hefty bills and pushing the people to prepaid electricity system.
“The people of J&K are already facing problems and now the government has stopped the pension for old age, widows and physically challenged persons, which is injustice with poor masses,” he maintained.
Ashok Bhagat and Anil Kohli also addressed the protesters.
Later the protesters handed over a Memorandum to Chief Engineer Jammu for J&K LG to revoke the order regarding prepaid electricity system.
Kulwant Singh, Ashwani Sharma, Rajinder Singh, Anil Nargotra, Jodh Singh, Manik Sharma, Ajay Bhagat, Manik Uppal, Pummy Verma, Bishan Bharti, Vinod Sharma, Kanchan Sharma, Pushpa Verma and others were also present in the protest.
