Udhampur, Feb 28: District Panchayat Tourism Council, Udhmapur, headed by District Development Commissioner, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary and comprised of officers from various departments and organisations today met at Malhad and finalized establishment of “Mountain Park NH-44” at village Malhad along National Highway under the District Panchayat Tourism Project initiated by District Administration.
The park spread over 184 kanals land will be completed in 4 months time and will have environmental, cultural, recreational, adventure sports and other facilities. Joggers’ Paths, Cactus Garden, Herbal Garden, Fountains, Rose Garden, Modern Horticulture Farm, Green Houses, Flower Parks, Photo-Studio, Amphitheater, Aquarium, Fish Pond and other components have been planned as a part of park located at a distance of 8km from heart of Udhampur town which will cater to thousands of visitors every day.
The ambitious project is being developed through Panchayats of Malhad, Ballian, Rathian, Rehmbal and Garnai. Rural Development Department will take up construction work while departments of Floriculture, Social Forestry, DRDA, IWMP, Fisheries, Agriculture, Horticulture, Tribal Affairs, Tourism, PHE and Irrigation & Flood Control will develop specific areas. Patnitop Development Authority will provide consultancy for the project especially for the tracks and viewpoints.
The DDC outlined the master plan for development of “Mountain Park NH-44” and informed the officers for various timelines to be adhered for development of park to be completed in stipulated time involving local communities. He shared the plan for sharing benefits with local inhabitants and providing funds raised for infrastructure development in surrounding hamlets. He further suggested that park should be named after Martyr Captain Tushar of Udhampur.
Amphitheatre will provide a platform for the local youth to share their talent while small play-fields will provide opportunity for hobby sports. A Cultural Walk will have models from Dogra, Kashmiri, Gojri, Ladakhi and other cultures and ethnicities depicting their lifestyles. Solar light will provide support for lighting while separate station is being created for regular power supply. Water harvesting tanks will provide round the year availability of water. Two buses will also be deployed to ferry local residents of town who enrol as members.
ADDC Arvind Sharma, CPO Rakesh Jamwal, CEO KDA Rakesh Sarangal, ACD Joginder Singh Rai, PO DRDA Dr Jagdish Mehra, ACR Rajiv Magotra, DFO Shweta Deonia, GM DIC Neelam Khajuria, ExEn of PWD, PHE, PDD, REW, Irrigation and Flood Control, CHO, DSHO, CAO, AFO, Bankers and senior officers attended DPTC meeting and accompanied the DDC for inspection of proposed park.
