JAMMU, Oct 8: Dr Akshay Gupta, Professor and Head of Orthodontics, Indira Gandhi Government Dental College (IGGDC) Jammu delivered a scientific presentation and chaired a scientific session at 29th Indian Society of Oral Implantologists (ISOI) conference, which was held from 6th to 8th October in Mumbai.
The Conference had more than 600 implantologist delegates across the globe. Participation of speakers and manufactures of AI based diagnostic solutions, digital dental scan and dental implants by global renowned brands made the Conference first of its kind. Dr Akshay chaired scientific session of Professor (Dr) Emanuel Bratu from Romania, wherein he spoke about use of ultrashort dental implants.
The theme of the conference was “Scan Plan & Restore Function”. Keeping the conference theme in mind, Dr Akshay also delivered a scientific presentation titled “Dental Implants–Plan and Restore– An Orthodontists perspective” wherein he highlighted the pivotal role of an Orthodontist in all kind of dental prosthesis and dental implants. He also showcased series of cases wherein orthodontic intervention was indispensable and imperative for an overall better restoration, function of patient and desiring fixed prosthesis with dental implants.
He also showcased cases and his techniques in which additional surgeries like bone grafting, ridge augmentation and second phase surgeries in implant dentistry could be avoided or made easy by using certain tips of clinical dentistry. In his presentation, he also emphasized that while overall planning of cases in which dental implants are chosen as a modality for patient’s prosthesis, orthodontic consultation and clinical intervention may always be given a thought for overall wellbeing of patients, specifically in young and middle aged patients.
