JAMMU, Mar 17: Dr Akshay Gupta, Professor and Head, Department of Orthodontics, Indira Gandhi Government Dental College, Jammu delivered a guest lecture in MDS Student-Teacher Exchange Programme at Mohali.
The five-day long Programme concluded today, was organized by Baba Farid University of Health Sciences in association with Punjab State Dental Council under the aegis of Department of Medical Education and Research, Punjab, organized MDS Student Teacher Exchange Programme at National Dental College and Hospital, Dera Bassi (Mohali) for the specialty of Orthodontics.
Post Graduate (MDS) students of orthodontic fraternity from Punjab and neighbouring states participated in this Student-Teacher Exchange Programme. Twenty faculty members from various Post Graduate institutions of Punjab, Delhi and Jaipur were invited to enlighten MDS students about the art and science of orthodontics.
Dr Akshay Gupta was invited as guest faculty from Jammu. Dr Akshay who is a renowned Orthodontist and a certified Implantologist delivered a guest lecture on the use of orthodontic skills in routine dental practice. He reinforced that the use of orthodontic skills prior to other dental treatments cannot be undermined.
He also demonstrated various techniques, which all budding orthodontists can use to help other specialties of dentistry to do their job more efficiently with better prognosis, for overall wellbeing of patients suffering from dental aliments.
Four of his PG students Dr Vikas, Dr Reyaz, Dr Anurag and Dr Ahatisham also participated in the programme and showcased their scientific/clinical posters.
