JAMMU, Apr 26: Renowned orthodontist Dr Akshay Gupta, Professor at Indira Gandhi Government Dental College (IGGDC) Jammu, delivered an engaging guest lecture titled “Oral Health – The Interplay of Orthodontics and Overall Oral Health” for National Dental College and Hospital (NDC) Mohali.
The online webinar, attended by dental students, practitioners, and faculty members, shed light on how orthodontics goes beyond aesthetics, playing a vital role in maintaining comprehensive oral health. Dr Gupta emphasized that properly aligned teeth and jaws contribute to better oral hygiene, reducing risks of plaque buildup, cavities and gum disease.
He elaborated on the benefits of orthodontic treatment, including improved bite function, enhanced speech and chewing, reduced risk of dental trauma, and better soft tissue health. Supported by compelling case studies and visual aids, Dr Gupta also addressed common misconceptions and showcased advancements in modern orthodontics.
