JAMMU, Apr 14: In a proud moment for the country and the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir in particular, Dr Arti Nanda, a renowned paediatric dermatologist from Reasi, has been elected as the President of the International Society of Paediatric Dermatology (ISPD).
As per a statement, she is the first person of Indian origin to hold this prestigious position.
Dr Nanda takes over from Dr Amy Paller of the United States following the World Congress of Paediatric Dermatology held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, from April 7 to 11. She will serve a four-year term from 2025 to 2029.
Born in Jammu and raised in Reasi, Dr Nanda comes from a respected family.
She is the daughter of the late Madhav Lal Nanda, a lawyer and social worker, and Kailash Nanda, an educationist.
Her family includes Dr Madan Mohan Kapoor (husband), Engineer Sanjay Nanda (brother), and former Minister Ajay Nanda.
Dr Nanda completed her MBBS from Government Medical College Jammu, followed by postgraduate and super-specialty training at PGIMER Chandigarh. She also trained briefly at AIIMS Delhi.
With over 40 years of experience, Dr Nanda is currently based in Kuwait, working as a consultant dermatologist.
She leads various specialty clinics and has more than 170 international publications to her credit. She is also a regular speaker at top dermatology conferences worldwide.
Her journey with ISPD began in 2014 as an Advisory Board Member and gradually, she served as Secretary General from 2021 to 2025 before being elected President.
She is also active in European dermatological groups and received the ILDS Award of Appreciation in 2022.
