Dr Balvinder performs successful uncemented total hip replacement at DH Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, Dec 10: Dr Balvinder Singh of District Hospital (DH) Udhampur successfully performed uncemented total hip replacement surgery on a patient from Udhampur.
Giving details of the surgery, Dr Balvinder Singh, “The patient suffered from Avascular Necrosis of right hip due to which it was difficult for patient to perform routine work. She was living painful life since last 3 years. In such a situation, total hip replacement was the only option but being from a poor labour class family, the patient was
“The patient was admitted in DH Udhampur under Ayushman Bharat scheme and surgery was perform free of cost,” he said, adding, before introduction of Ayushman Bharat scheme it was not possible for a poor labourer to go for such high end surgeries because cost of implant and surgery is too high. In private hospital, this surgery may cost Rs 5 to 7 lakhs, he disclosed.
Dr Balvinder said the Government under direct supervision of Administrative Secretary Health and Medical Education Bupinder Kumar and Director General Health Services Dr Saleem ur Rehman is providing all support to doctors for conducting high end surgeries at district level as well as medical colleges.
He said Medical Superintendent of DH Udhampur Dr Sanjay Bhat is providing all sort of assistance to its doctors to perform high end surgeries in the Hospital.
Those who assisted Dr Balvinder in the surgery include Dr Sunil Kailo (anesthetist), Rajinder Gupta, Mahesh Bamotra, Raju and sister Manisha.
