Dr Bloeria urges people to read Dogri books

Three books on Dogri poetry released

JAMMU, May 24: Vice Chancellor, Central University Jammu, Dr SS Bloeria, emphasized the need to preserve Dogra culture and enrich Dogri language through creation of quality literature.
Dr Bloeria, said this while speaking in a function organised by Dogri Sanstha to release three books of Dogri Poetry. He urged upon the Dogri speaking people to respond to this enthusiasm by making a habit of reading Dogri books.
The books released were Kungali Kalaar, a collection of poems and songs by PL Parihar, Shabda-Shabda Sarmattha, collection of Kundalis by Puran Chand Bagotra and Kittar-Kittar Kaalaja, a collection of songs of Khajur Singh. Three scholarly papers were presented by Susheel Begana, Dr Bansi Lal and Prof Veena Gupta respectively.
Ram Lal Tuli, a renowned singer, also sang a couple of songs authored by PL Parihar. All the three authors shared their experiences with the audience they had during writing these books.
Earlier Prof Lalit Magotra, president, Dogri Sanstha, in his welcome address urged upon the Government to fulfill its obligation by making proper arrangements to teach Dogri at Primary and Middle levels in schools as has been done in the case of Kashmiri.
He expressed resentment that the proposal to set up Dogri Research Centre in Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University has been scuttled and instead efforts are on put to set up a Centre of comparative studies of regional languages.
A large number of writers, academicians and prominent citizens formed the audience in this programme.
Prof Veena Gupta, general secretary, Dogri Sanstha presented vote of thanks whereas Prof Shashi Pathania conducted the proceedings of the programme.
