JAMMU, May 30: The veteran VHP leader, Dr Rama Kant Dubey who passed away in PGI Chandigarh on May 28 was given a tearful adieu today.
People from all walks of life joined his funeral procession which started from his Talab Tillo residence this afternoon. After the family completed the religious rituals the VHP and Bajrang Dal activists took the body in their custody and brought it to the cremation ground on an open jeep in shape of a big procession. The vehicle was fully decorated with VHP flags and banners.
As the procession passed towards the Jogi Gate Cremation Ground, the slogans in praise of the veteran leader rent the air. Besides, the two sons of Dr Dubey the procession was led by VHP president Leela KaranSharma and other senior leaders of the organisation while the pyre was shouldered by BD activists led by Rakesh Sharma.
The leaders of various political parties including BJP, Congress, National Conference as well as social and religious organizations, Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Bar Association Jammu, senior RSS, Sanatan Dharam Sabha, Panun Kashmir, KP Sabha, Shiv Sena, Kranti Dal, Ram Sena leaders, the members of various Bazar and trade associations and prominent citizens participated in the funeral procession and paid glowing tributes to Dr Dubey. They, while recalling the services of late leader said Dr Dubey was a selfless man who served the society and nation till his last breath and prayed for the eternal peace of departed soul.
Meanwhile, Governor N N Vohra has expressed grief on the passing away of Dr Ramakant Dubey, Chief Patron, State VHP and founder member of Buda Amarnath, Baba Amarnath Yatri Niwas.
In a message, the Governor has prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and wished his family the strength to bear this sad loss.
