85 test +ve in J&K

Srinagar/Jammu/Leh, Mar 2: With the COVID-19 vaccination process on since January, former Chief Minister and president National Conference Dr Farooq Abdullah along with his wife Mollie Abdullah today received their first shot of vaccine at SKIMS Soura.
Dr Farooq was administered Covishield vaccine at SKIMS around 11 am and was accompanied by Director SKIMS, Dr A.G Ahangar along with other staff members.
He appreciated the doctors and nurses for their services and appealed to those who are eligible to take the vaccine to fight this pandemic.
Omar Abd-ullah, former Chief Minister in his tweet also thanked the doctors, nurses and staff at SKIMS and appealed to beneficiaries to get vaccinated.
“Thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at SKIMS, Srinagar. Today my 85 year old father and my mother had their first COVID jab. My father has a number of health issues including being on immunosupperssants for a kidney transplant. If he can get the vaccine, you should as well,” Omar tweeted.
Meanwhile, 85 persons today tested positive for COVID-19 while 94 others recovered from the virus in Jammu and Kashmir.
Jammu region recorded 12 new Corona cases, 10 of them in Jammu district and one each in Udhampur and Samba districts.
As many as 25 persons recovered from the virus in Jammu including 18 in Jammu district, three each Udhampur and Poonch and one in Kathua district.
Jammu region now has 52014 Corona cases. Among them, 185 are active while 51104 have recovered and there have been 725 casualties in the region.
Meanwhile, 69 people tested positive in Kashmir for COVID-19 today.
Those who tested positive include 48 from Srinagar, five Baramulla, seven Budgam, six Pulwama, four Anantnag and three from Kulgam.
The number of cases in Kashmir division have reached 74,575 including 72,707 recoveries and 1,233 deaths.
The number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 820 including 635 from Kashmir division.
With 94 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir have reached 123,811 which is 97.80 percent of the total cases.
In J&K out of 5,253,071 samples tested for COVID-19 5,126,482 tested negative while as 126,589 tested positive. Among them 820 persons are active, 123,811 persons have recovered and 1,958 persons have died.
Meanwhile, no new fresh COVID cases were reported in the UT of Ladakh today. The UT now has 44 active positive cases.
