JAMMU, Nov 13: Dr Gautam Sharma (MDS), dental specialist of the University of Jammu and former president of Indian Dental Association, Jammu, attended a three-day high end hands-on practical workshop at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, on ‘Microsurgical soft tissue regeneration around natural teeth and dental implants’.
The workshop featured 8 lectures, 4 live surgeries and 2 hands-on sessions by renowned national and international speakers. Resource persons of the event included Prof Adrian Kasaj from Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz, Germany; Prof Daniel Thoma from University of Zurich, Switzerland and Prof Farhan Durrani from Banaras Hindu University, India.
Hands-on microsurgical exercise for soft tissue augmentation in edentulous site to increase of soft tissue volume applying autogenous connective and soft tissue substitute, increase of keratinized tissue area using free gingival graft and soft tissue substitute were undertaken. Hands-on was also done for the root coverage using autogenous tissue harvesting (free gingival grafts, connective tissue grafts) with coronally or laterally advanced flaps and tunneling flap, soft tissue substitutes with coronally advanced and tunneling flaps.
Dr Gautam Sharma is MDS in Periodontics and is regularly attending the practical hands-on workshops at the prestigious AIIMS, New Delhi.
