SRINAGAR, Aug 10: As part of JJM fortnight, Mission Director Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) Dr G N Itoo today visited the Damhal Hanjipora to witness the proceedings of a special Gram Sabha convened to certify the village as Har Ghar Jal and declared that all the 603 households have now access to adequate and safe drinking water through taps.
As per a handout, the Mission Director accompanied by SDM, OSD, Executive Engineer Jal Shakti PHE and other Tehsil level officers visited the Filtration Plant for the D H Pora to check the water quality parameters in presence of the community members to get assurance about quality of water being supplied.
While addressing the special Gram Sabha, Dr. Itoo urged upon the community to take part in the water management and operation and maintenance of the water supply systems like distribution system, service reservoirs and filtration plants for which various capacity building programs are being conducted all across the UT by the Jal Shakti Department.
He then visited Govt Hr. Sec School D H Pora to interact with the school children who were participating in a debate and painting competition on water conservation and climate change being organized in collaboration with the Mission Directorate Jal Jeevan Mission. He felicitated the best performing students, the statement said.
While speaking on the occasion, Dr. Itoo said that the current week is celebrated as water festival during which impetus on inspection of ongoing JJM works is being given with special focus on awareness on water conservation, water quality and partnering with the stakeholders for ensuring the sustainability and functionality of the water infrastructure being created under Jal Jeevan Mission, it added.
