JAMMU, Apr 12: Dr Sanjeev Jain has resigned as Vice-Chancellor of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra on his appointment as Director of Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Jabalpur.
Prof Dr Mukhopadhya, Dean Faculty of Management at SMVDU has been assigned the charge of acting Vice-Chancellor on sudden resignation of Dr Sanjeev Jain, who was accorded an extension of two years only last month.
Though there was no official word on the resignation as well as taking over of the acting VC, official sources told the Excelsior that Dr Sanjeev Jain had submitted his resignation to the Governor and Chancellor of SMVDU, Satya Pal Malik who accepted the same yesterday.
Following acceptance of the resignation and on direction of the Governor, Prof D Mukhopadhya was today handed over the charge of Vice-Chancellor SMVDU by Dr Sanjeev Jain.
It may be recalled that Dr Sanjeev Jain, who had assumed the office of VC SMVDU on March 15, 2016, was accorded an extension of two years in his tenure on March 6, 2019.
