SRINAGAR : Former director of S K Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Dr S Jalaluddin, who was injured in firing by unidentified gunmen at Pampore in south Kashmir yesterday, was still battling for his life in the institute.
Two of his guards were killed in the firing at Namblabal, Pampore, about 12 km from here in south Kashmir district of Pulwama yesterday afternoon.
However, police did not issue any statement on the attack.
No militant outfit has also claimed responsibility for the attack.
Doctors attending on Dr Jalal said he was operated upon by a team of doctors last night.
They said former head of the SKIMS was still in a critical condition as he was hit by bullets in the headt, eye and abdomen.
Doctors said next 72 hours are very crucial.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti, State secretary of the Communist Party of India (M) and Pradesh Congress Committee Chief (PCC) chief Prof Saifuddin Soz have strongly condemned attack on Dr Jalal by gunmen. (AGENCIES)
