NEW DELHI, June 27: As many as 25 Union Ministries in the Government of India will have an e-Office by the end of this month and will switch-over to cent – percent paper-less, e-file system of working.
This was announced by Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh while briefing the media persons at the office of ARPG (Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances) at Sardar Patel Bhawan, here today.
Dr Jitendra Singh disclosed that 20 Union Ministries and Departments are already functioning fully through e-Office and five more are already in the process of switching over to e-file system, which process will be complete in next three days.
Congratulating ARPG Secretary K. Viswanath, Additional Secretary Usha Sharma and the entire ARPG team as well as the assisting team of digital experts, Dr Jitendra Singh said, it is a unique feat worth highlighting that as on 7th October 2016, the total number of Union Ministries functioning through e-office was only six, following which the process was put on fast track and today, within a short span of few months, the number of e-office enabled Ministries has increased from 6 to 25.
Quoting figures, Dr Jitendra Singh said, the statistical success is even more impressive when we note that the number of e-files operating in Government of India in the month of October 2016 was 7,848 which has, in a short span, today increased manifold to 4,62,172 which is approximately 230% jump. He attributed this unprecedented achievement to the inspiration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, under whose leadership the entire staff of the Department, including he himself, worked with the target of fixed deadlines and strict timelines.
