Dr Jitendra announces Rs 70 lakh for Reasi, Rs 25 lakh for Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, Apr 13: Addressing the joint Monitoring Committee meeting of all the six districts falling in his Parliamentary constituency here today, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Development of North-Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space & Member, Lok Sabha from Udhampur-Kathua-Doda, Dr Jitendra Singh announced the setting up of a Community Hall in Udhampur and allocated Rs 70 lakh for district Reasi, Rs. 25 lakh for district Udhampur and Rs.5 lakh for Hiranagar Assembly Constituency.
Out of  Rs. 70 lakh for district Reasi,he said,Rs. 20 lakh will be meant for purchasing Laproscopic surgery equipment and Digital X-ray machine for Reasi District Hospital and Rs. 50 lakh for flood relief to Dera-Bhabar-Brahmna Panchayat in Reasi.
With today’s announcement and allocation, Dr. Jitendra Singh said, he had fully exhausted the first instalment of Rs.2.5 crore from MPLAD fund and also fulfilled his promise of spending an almost equal amount from outside sources.
Dr. Jitendra Singh also announced the clearance of the long- awaited vital Shapur-Kandi project in Kathua which will provide over 1150 cu.m of water. Another project in Kathua for which the approval is expected shortly is the Ujh Multipurpose project of Rs. 4000 Cr which is expected to generate 208 MW power and irrigate nearly 18,000 acres of land, he added.
Dr. Jitendra Singh said, he would be, from time to time, presenting a report card of the activities as a Member of Parliament to the people of the constituency as well as his party leadership.
Complimenting the people of his constituency, Dr Jitendra Singh said, he had no hesitation to declare with pride that the voters of Udhampur-Kathua-Doda had contributed the maximum in ensuring the BJP tally of 25 seats in the recently held Assembly elections.
Recalling some of the major highlights of his 10-month tenure as MP, Dr. Jitendra Singh enumerated landmark Keediyan-Gandiyal and Juthana bridges in Kathua, Bio-tech park at Gaati, Kathua, Hi-tech Weather Forecast Instrument at Saanjhi Chhat, Vaishno Devi, residential plots at Hiranagar for families of border-fire victims, sanction of double hike in salary of SPOs/VDCs, ASI survey for Bhaderwah-Himachal Tourism circuit, upgradation of Kendriya Vidyalaya at Chenani, proposal for two Kendriya Vidyalayas at Doda-Bhaderwah and one at Reasi, Smart Village at flood-ravaged Saddal, District Udhampur, three “Adarsh Gram” Model villages at Sangwali Kathua, Humbal Doda and Bhattan Kishtwar, decision for revival of Dul Hasti Phase-II Project at Kishtwar from next year, IIT for the region, proposal for high-power Mobile Tower at Machhail and 58 other villages of Kishtwar, 15 new FM Radio channels for Kathua, Bhaderwah and Jammu, computers and laboratories for schools in peripheral areas, resumption of Jammu “Yuv Vani” radio service and Central funding for upgradation of sports stadium in Jammu and Srinagar.
Dr. Jitendra Singh appreciated the administration for their cooperation and said, all the six Deputy Commissioners have contributed to the best of their ability but requested them to establish a closer rapport with the new set of MLAs who have got elected just about three months back. He also lauded the MLAs from Udhampur-Kathua-Doda Parliamentary constituency for being literate, educated and trained in their respective professions, which could enable them to implement the Central schemes and use the MPLAD funds more meaningfully.
Dr. Jitendra Singh said, Udhampur-Kathua-Doda is one of the most difficult among all the Parliamentary Constituencies of the country because of its heterogeneity and its long stretch extending from Punjab border in the south to Peer Panchal in the north.
Among the MLAs who spoke at the meeting were Pawan Gupta, MoS, R.S. Pathania, D.N. Bhagat, Ajay Nanda, Kuldeep Kumar and Neelam Langeh. The Deputy Commissioners who made their presentations were Shahid Iqbal, Sushma Chauhan, Javed Khan, Bhupinder Kumar, and A.R. Shah.
