KATHUA, Sept 5: Union Minister, Dr Jitendra Singh today issued directives to Divisional Commissioner Jammu asking him to settle the problem of people of Lower Rajwalta, Billawar who are facing acute shortage of drinking water for one year now due to failure of the concerned Department in laying the 25 water supply pipes in the area after they were washed away in flash floods last year.
A deputation of the people of the area visited Kathua today and met the district president of the BJP, Prem Nath Dogra who took up the issue with the Union Minister on phone at the very moment.
Dr Jitendra Singh also talked to the members of delegation and listened to their problem. He assured them that their problem will be sorted out on war footing basis. He asked them that why they did not bring the issue in his or party leaders notice during last one year. The aggrieved people informed him that they had taken up the issue with the authorities and concerned Department number of times but to no avail.
Taking a prompt action on this issue, Dr Jitendra Singh contacted the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Sanjeev Varma at that very moment and asked him to solve the issue on war footing basis. The Union Minister asked him that either the money should be utilized from conversion, M P LAD Fund or any other source but the issue should be settled to the best satisfaction of the people of the area.
The people informed the Union Minister that earlier the transformer and local wires in the area were damaged but no attention was paid to replace them by the concerned Department.
The Union Minister also urged the district president of the party to look into the problems of the people of the district and in case he feels necessary he should contact him for the immediate redressal of the problems. The Minister said that public should not be made to suffer for no fault of theirs and public representatives should act promptly in redressing the burning issues of the people.
The delegation of the people was led by Sarpanch Rajwalta Puran Singh, Chain Singh, Satyandra Singh, Ramlal, Maan Singh and Dharam Singh.
The delegation complimented the Union Minister for his gesture and prompt action in redressing their problem. The delegation also demanded that a proper mechanism be evolved as every year the water pipes are washed away by flash floods and the people of the Kandi belt are put to problems. They expressed the hope that the Government this time will find an everlasting solution to problem.
